Mar Vista Welcomes Mitsuwa’s Hannosuke Tempura

The food court of Mar Vista’s Mitsuwa Marketplace has been known for its Santouka Ramen, but as of June 11, the vendor space will get a lot more interesting with the addition of Hannosuke. This vendor is a tempura specialist that started out in Chuo, Tokyo. The mouth-watering tempura spot will mainly specialize only on one item: tempura donburi or tendon. This unique dish features rice, covered with mixed seafood and veggie tempura. For the very first time outside of Japan, the space will be an outpost for its chain, continuing its good tasting tempura in the United States. As you walk past Mitsuwa, you can’t help but notice a small poster that reads, “They may have tasted good sushi in the United States of America, but chances are they have never encountered authentic superb tempura,” along with an outline of the 1950s when a former chairman of Japan’s chef association Hiroyuki Kaneko opened a restaurant that served tempura and was very successful in drawing in business. On June 11, the first 100 customers will enjoy a free bowl of tendon as an added bonus. Source: LA Weekly Like Haute Living Los Angeles? Join our Facebook page or follow us on Twitter @HauteLivingLA.
