Premium Breweries Pour at the Shade Hotel on Earth Day

Craft beer lovers toasted in luxury and style at the inaugural “Waves of Grain” beerfest held last Sunday at The Shade Hotel in Manhattan Beach, Calif. More than 300 people gathered at the coastal luxury boutique hotel voted by TripAdvisor as one of the nation’s trendiest hotels to celebrate Earth Day and the Roundhouse Aquarium, which benefited from 100 percent of the event’s proceeds. Guests sipped on artisan brews from 25 local and regional breweries, savored culinary bites from various restaurants in The Zislis Group, and bid on silent auction items, such as a Trilogy spa package and an autographed football from NFL players. “Waves of Grain” marks The Zislis Group’s first time hosting the event, but owner Michael Zislis says it certainly won’t be the last.

“It was exciting to host our friends, neighbors and out-of-towners to our event for a night of craft beer and delicious food. The event sold-out so fast, we hope more people will attend next time,” says Zislis.

The Shade Hotel partnered with BREWCO and the newly opened Rock & Brews, which is co-owned by legendary rocker Gene Simmons, as well as Mucho Ultima and Zinc@Shade to provide freshly prepared mini gourmet servings created by on-site restaurant chefs to pair with the premium brews. The Shade Hotel is a premier upscale property located in the heart of downtown Manhattan Beach. Designed by Christopher Lowell, the hotel boasts organic interiors and natural elements, such as exotic bamboo. A second location will open in nearby Redondo Beach and is expected to be a completely LEED-certified property.
