A luxury yacht that once belonged to prolific golf star Jack Nicklaus just settled into its new home in Singapore, joining a growing number of yachts in the city.
The $11.8-million yacht houses a golf museum that pays tribute to Nicklaus’ career and contains his major championship trophies and other golf memorabilia. The Sea Bear, named after his golf moniker Golden Bear, is docked at the One Degree 15 Marina Club. The 130-foot vessel is set to be the star attraction of the Boat Asia 2012 event, which takes place April 12 through 15 at Marina@Keppel Bay.
Ticket-holders will have the rare opportunity to explore the interior of the yacht.
Nicklaus has been named Golfer of the Century and Most Powerful Person in Golf along with winning 18 majors over the years. He owned the luxurious tri-deck yacht up until last year.
The yacht also comes with an additional flybridge that offers a 360 degree view of its surroundings and five staterooms outfitted in mahogany. Pictures of Nicklaus’ victories and other memorable moments adorn the walls of each room, and each of the guest suites are named after four golfing Majors: the US Masters, the US Open, the British Open and the PGA Championship.
The Sea Bear can accommodate up to 30 guests and 10 overnight, and should be available for charter within the next two or three months, with rates estimated to be $10,000 to $20,000, depending on the length of the voyage.
At last year’s event, $30 million in transactions were made. 15,000 guests are expected to attend this year’s event.
