Imperial China Bowl Sells for $27 Million in Hong Kong

An extremely rare Imperial China bowl sold for nearly $27 million at auction in Hong Kong today. This whopping price total was about three times as much as pre-sale estimates.

It also sets a new record for a piece of ceramic from the Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127), possibly, says Sotheby’s Asia deputy chairman Nicolas Chow, the greatest masterpiece of song ceramic ever offered in Hong Kong.
