Haute Event: Paypa Listening Party At Beats By Dre In Soho

On Wednesday April 25, Angela Yee hosted a private listening party at the Beats By Dre boutique in Soho for Chicago based hip-hop artist Paypa’s new mixtape “The Bottle: Henny On The Rocks 2.”

The new tape features Raekwon, Emilio Rojas, Knaledge, Chip tha Ripper and Shontelle, and production from Cardiak and Bink.

Guests who came out to support the star included Amanda Seales and Bad Boy artist French Montana who sipped on speciality Hennessy cocktails while getting a first listenf o the new tape.

Marcus Moody, aka Paypa grew up as a military-brat, and claimed home in the south side of Chicago where he was raised. As far as music goes, Paypa will tell you that he “just kind of fell into the music game.” When his younger brother passed away from kidney failure, Paypa was compelled to continue his brother’s legacy through music and performance. Over the past ten years, Paypa vowed to make his mark in the music industry so that his brother could live on through his music.

Paypa’s Fall 2009 mixtape release, 24 HOURS FROM GREATNESS, gave his fans a taste of his versatility. He followed that up with his 2010 Mixtape release TUNNEL VISION hosted by DJ DRAMA & DJ KHALED featuring guest appearances by THE GAME, RICK ROSS, DJ KHALED, JIM JONES and more. His most recent mixtape released in 2011 entitled, HENNY ON THE ROCKS featured Chris Brown, Nipsey Hussle, Ya Boy and more. It showcased an even more well rounded sound, influenced by his upbringing in both Chicago and Southern California.

Recently coming off his first nationwide tour with Method Man, Curren$y, Big K.R.I.T. and SmokeDZA, and a performance at the 2012 SXSW Fader Fort, Paypa is now putting the finishes touches on his follow up mixtape to HENNY ON THE ROCKS entitled THE BOTTLE as well as finishing his debut album slated for Fall-2012 release. His debut album, entitled FEEL GOOD MUSIC, will showcase an evolution of Paypa’s character, determination, and his ongoing journey through life.
