Famed Department Store Harrods To Honor Diamond Jubilee With Pop-Up Ballgown Boutique

The year 2012 is a busy one if you’re the Queen of England, with her Diamond Jubilee celebration and the 2012 Summer Olympics hosted in London. So, famed department store Harrods decided to keep the festive atmosphere alive.

In honor of the Diamond Jubilee and in conjunction with Victoria & Albert Museum’s exhibition “Ballgowns: British Glamour since 1950,” Harrods will host a pop-up ballgown boutique.

Designs by some of fashion’s biggest names in the likes of Erdem, Nina Ricci, Roberto Cavalli and Valentino will be featured and displayed in the store’s famous Brompton Road windows.

Harrod’s other windows will feature a custom-built display of crowns created by 32 leading labels, including De Beers, Faberge, Solange Azagury Partridge and Theo Fennell, each of which is based on a replica of the St. Edwards’s coronation crown.

The chic display will be unveiled May 15, and fashionistas will be able to purchase the designs through one-on-one consultations at The Penthouse in Harrods.
