Spring has sprung again and with each year, the beauty of Spring shows across the country, especially in Japan, with their beautiful blooming of white and pink cherry blossoms. According to Toyko Times, this weekend thousands from all of the country came out to view the breath-taking blossoms.

Just last Friday Japan’s national weather service reported that March 31st was the start date of their blooming. For many this is a fantastic event that marks that very start of celebrations for the blossoms with parties, picnics, and festivals. However, many of these celebrations were canceled due to the devastating earthquake last year.

According to Tatsuko Suzuki, the Tokyo city official stated, “We weren’t in the mood food partying under the flowers.” But in keeping up with tradition the festivities are back on. This annual spring tradition of enjoying the cherry blossoms on “sakura” trees goes back hundreds of years, The Telegraph reports.
