Real Madrid To Build Cutting Edge Resort in the UAE

Cristiano Ronaldo may have to chase after soccer balls in the Persian Gulf is he’s not careful.

If you thought Real Madrid was just a mere soccer club, think again!  The Spanish team is dabbing into the resort industry in a big way, a $1 billion way.  Real Madrid has teamed up with the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah to build an island resort stock full of opulent amenities.

The uber modern resort is set to open in January 2015, and it will feature a soccer arena, which  faces the Persian Gulf and is capable of seating 10,000 fans.  But this is no ordinary field; viewers can watch games played in Madrid via holographic players on the seaside pitch.

Along with a futuristic soccer field which would fit into the world of Bladerunner, the Real Madrid Island Resort will house a museum dedicated to the football club as well as a theme park, a luxurious hotel and villas for rent.  Also the resort will have a marina for those savvy sea travelers.

The $1 billion investment may seem like a lot but you have to spend money to make money.  The resort is expected to be a haute destination for tourists and retail is expected to rise more and more in the Emirates.  The resort is expecting 1 million visitors its first year.
