Wide open courtyard with plush sofas and a view overlooking quaint shops. Large television screens with flashing images of models walking down a catwalk. These are just a few of the settings that will surround you when you first enter Mixology101. Mixology101, a new bar at the Grove’s Original Farmer’s Market, opened on Monday. Located by Planet Dailies, it features refreshing drinks created by Salvatore Calabrese, one of the world’s leading cocktail tastemakers, and served by Joseph Brooke, head bartender.

Mixology101 provides not only a swanky environment, but a number of unique drinks. Many of the concoctions are in the seven to fifteen dollar range. One drink that pays homage to the Original Farmer’s Market location of Mixology101 is the Farmer’s Martini. Aqua blue in color, this martini cocktail mixes frozen Stoli Elit, a hint of blue curacao, with Salvatore’s bitters and champagne. The unique marine hue was inspired by a gas that was discovered by the Gilmore Family.

Another martini to savor is the Spicy Fifty, a sweet and thirst quenching combination. The Spicy Fifty has Stolichnaya Vanil vodka, pure vodka, blueberry liqueur, white crème de cacao and fresh blueberries. It’s garnished with a green chili pepper that leaves a light, spicy taste.

One last beverage to recommend would be the Breakfast Martini, which is so popular with the crowd that it can run out before the end of the night. It’s a mix of Bombay Sapphire, Cointreau, fresh lemon juice, and orange marmalade. A sip of the Breakfast Martini gives you something that’s a fusion of bitter and sweet.
