Marilyn Monroe Still Stunning at Getty Images Gallery

Fifty years after her death, Marilyn Monroe still lingers in the minds of people as an iconic actress and sex symbol in the 21st Century.  In honor of her and the impact she’s had on pop-culture, the Getty Images Gallery is showcasing an exhibit featuring rare photos and dresses worn by the starlet.

“Marilyn” includes images of Norma Jean Mortenson, her real name, as a young aspiring actress in New York all the way to her rise as Hollywood’s queen.

The photos offer viewers a chance to catch a glimpse of Monroe in her most intimate moments.  One image shows her distressed and in tears after a malfunction with her costume in a dressing room before a charity event in Madison Square Garden.

Another more cheerful photo shows her at home lying on a bench laughing and playing with a puppy.  The photo is fittingly titled “Puppy Love.”

Along with a photo gallery, the exhibit includes a variety of dresses and gowns Monroe wore during films and events.  The clothing comes from David Gainsborough, owner of one of the largest Marilyn Monroe memorabilia collections in the world.
