Haute Event: Shaquille O’Neal Kicks Of His 40th Birthday at Tao; The Soundclash at Lavo; Dirty South at Marquee

Dirty South performs at Marquee.

On Friday night, Shaquille O’Neal kicked off his 40th birthday celebration weekend at Tao at the Venetian. The four-time NBA champion was joined by a large group of 20 friends who dined at the Asian bistro, even getting cooking tips from executive chef Mike Armstrong on how to make the braised short ribs he loved so much. He welcomed fans who continually came up to the table to say hi to the superstar.

After dinner they headed up to the club, sitting at a VIP table in the club’s moat area to catch Apl.de.Ap’s DJ set. Shaq took photos with fans throughout the night.

Lavo at the Palazzo featured the return of resident deejays The Soundclash, composed of recording artist and DJ Lupe Fiasco and DJ Sky Gellatly. The crowd favorites were greeted with a warm welcome of cheers as they took the helm for a 90-minute set with the crowd taking pictures throughout their set. The DJ duo debuted a new single from their upcoming Soundclash album. A spirited Lupe was on the mic and jumped on the DJ booth to the delight of many fans in the audience.

Dirty South entertained a packed club at Marquee at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas.
