The first lady of Chechnya, Medni Kadyrova, is expanding her fashion line with the first-ever foreign fashion show for a Chechen company. Founded by the first lady, the label is named “Firdaws” and Kadyrova is unveiling new designs from her line in Dubai.

The company was founded by Kadyrova  in 2009 and currently has boutiques in Grozny. With the latest fashion show, dubbed, “Lady Chechnya”, Kadyrova is taking a step toward foreign recognition. In addition to her latest fashion show in Dubai, the designer plans to open a new boutique in the United Arab Emirates.

“I am sure that this show in Dubai is the first step to the conquering of the fashion world in the Middle East,” Kadyrova said.

The show in Dubai featured 70 variations of traditional Muslim female dress, including accents with diamonds and precious stones. The new line will eventually be presented in Saudi Arabia.

Kadyrova added, “The natural beauty and grace of Eastern women inspired us to create these works of art.”

Firdaws means “heavenly gardens” in Arabic and the company won the grand prize in 2011 at the Moscow fashion competition International Couturier of the Year.
