Ubuntu: An Evening of Zambian Art and Film Sponsored By Haute Living

Liberian peace activist Leymah Gbowee translates Ubuntu as “I am what I am because of who we all are.”  Ubuntu is an African philosophy promoting the relations between communities and alliances.  The word Ubuntu comes from the Bantu language of Southern Africa, the term is broad and diverse in African communities.

On March 1, LAARTCORE in Los Angeles will exhibit “Ubuntu: An Evening of Zambian Art and Film,” benefiting the Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation, dedicated to promoting the exposure of art to urban youth.

The event, sponsored by Haute Living Magazine, will feature an auction of Zambian Art from the private collection of Gloria Huwiler as well as a screening of  “Mwansa the Great” by Rugano Nyani- a film about a young boy who’s imagination molds and empowers everyday life.
