Tiger Woods Jolts Palm Beach Businesses
Although we are in a recession and scores of cities across the United States struggle to stay afloat, sometimes all you need is the Tiger Woods bump, case and point: Palm Beach.
This Thursday marks the beginning of the Honda Classic at the PGA National, but Tiger Woods’ arrival to the links for a practice round has given the cities hotels, restaurants and shops a giant boost in business before the tournament even gets into swing.
Rocco’s Tacos and Tequila Bar on PGA Boulevard added reinforcements to the staff preparing for the influx of 100,000 plus spectators descending on Palm Beach this week. On Tuesday night, all of the 220 seats were filled. A few blocks away, the Marriot Hotel sold out every room due to the tournament.
Tiger Woods hasn’t played in the tournament since he was 17-years old in 1993; things sure have changed since then. After controversies and 14 professional major golf championships, Tiger is back in Palm Beach playing on the course famous for its winding drives and unpredictable winds. This year also boast an impressive cast of players including Ian Pulter, Lee Westwood and Rory McIlroy.
