Milan Fashion Week Report: Gucci Autumn/Winter 2012 Collection

The invitation to the show alone was a clue. The heavy black bard luxuriously embossed with deep plum velvety leaves meant Gucci was about to bring the drama.

Creative Director Frida Giannini described the collection as ‘modern-day romanticism’ with dramatic sensuality. The show opened with head-to-toe black, and Gucci’s long-term makeup guru aimed for dark, gothic romance. The palette transformed to ruch and deep with velvet and jacquard fabrics and shades of olive, plum and midnight blue, while the evening wear ruffled with black chiffon halterneck gowns embossed with leaves, feather and flowers.
