Haute Time: Audemars Piguet’s Royal Oak 40th Anniversary Worldwide Exhibition

This not to be missed event combines design, photography, film and sound creating the Royal Oak 40th anniversary worldwide exhibition. Celebrating 40 years of Audemars Piguet’s iconic timepiece Royal Oak, the world’s first luxury sports timepiece that sparked a complete shift in the watch industry, the Swiss Manufacture from Le Brassus in the Vallee de Joux has put together this distinctive and one of a kind exhibition.
Rare watches from the very first Royal Oak in 1972 to the newest models revealed at the Salon de la Haute Horologerie in January 2012, are set to be displayed in a series of exhibitions showcasing the brand’s gift of innovation and creativity. Following the recent partnership between Audemars Piguet and American Patron of Tate, the exhibition will start the worldwide tour in New York on March 21st at The Park Avenue Armory.
Audemars Piguet has always broken the rules of fine watch making, starting in 1972 when they introduced the ground breaking design of the Royal Oak. Designing the first luxury sports watch in Haute Horlogerie, the four characteristics that define the timepiece, as well as the luxury watch industry, include an octagonal bezel with fixed hexagonal screws, some of the thinnest self winding movements ever seen, a seamlessly integrated to the case bracelet and the tapisserie pattern on the dial.
