In less than a month, their first child, a baby girl with such a unique name, Blue Ivy, has already made a name for herself. According to The Washington Post, on January 26, the superstar couple had already filed papers with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in a means to protect Blue Ivy’s name. The couple wanted to make sure that no one would be able to exploit their baby girl’s name or may even have a future baby line of baby products in works. Many would agree that the couple made a very smart and sound decision for the future of their legacy.

Ironically, a few days ago, Joseph Mbeh, a fashion designer just sent in trademark application with the name of “Blue Ivy Carter NYC” in mind, later claiming that he wanted to share his idea with the power couple first. Also, another person filed to trademark a fragrance line titled “Blue Ivy Carter Glory IV.” Even though, the joyous first time mom, Beyonce’s trademark for her company is still pending, “parents are legally authorized to trademark the names of their minor children,” according to experts who spoke with The Post. Based on the information provided, the happy couple has already made their first wise decision in the future of their baby girl, Blue Ivy Carter.
