Battle of Stalingrad Film Set In Imax

Russia is on the verge of creating the next great war movie. Set in Stalingrad, during World War II, the film will be set in Imax format giving viewers an almost too lifelike show with state-of-the-art technology. A turning point in Russian cinema, the film will be the first Russian-language movie set in Imax.
The battle of Stalingrad is one of the bloodiest battles in the history of warfare and the loss of civilian and military lives is surreal. For over five months, the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany and its allies fought block by block for leverage in the Russian city.
In the end over two million people perished. But the defeat of Germany at Stalingrad was a key turning point in the war for the allies, who later defeated the axis powers.
Russia’s Fyodor Bondarchuk, the creator of “The 9th Company” and “The Inhabited Island,” will direct Stalingrad. The son of the Oscar-winning director of “War and Peace,” Bondarchuk does not shy away from big budget Hollywood like films. Stalingrad will most likely be in the same sphere as “Saving Private Ryan” only with more epic battle scenes.
The movie is supposedly visually stunning and perfect for Imax theaters. Stalingrad is due to be released next year.
