After opening the largest Aston Martin showroom in Shanghai recently, the luxury car marker continues to increase it’s presence in China by unveiling a special Dragon88 variant for the Chinese New Year.
The number 8 represents luck in China, so Aston Martin is doubling it’s luck by introducing the Dragon88 edition which will be made available in the DBS, Virage and V8 Vantage S models. The Dragon88 is schedule to be unveiled in April during the Beijing Auto Show.
For the Dragon88 editions, three exterior colors have been chosen specially to represent Chinese art and history, including Amethyst Red, Volcano red and Champagne Gold. Each scheme represents a Chinese virtue such as wealth and fortune, peace and protection and “dragon fire”. The interior design will feature bright metal work accented by black trim, an embroidered headrest made using Metallic Gold, Cream Truffle, Winter Wheat and Kestrel Tan threads. Bang & Olfsen speaker and headphone systems have been incorporated into the Dragon88 editions.
The news of Aston Martin’s plans to unveil the Dragon88 comes just after Rolls-Royce announced their “Year of the Dragon” Phantom has sold out. With a price tag of $1.2 million, the Phantoms did exceptionally well in the Chinese market.
Aston Martin currently has six dealerships in China. Pricing and availability will be announced during the Beijing Auto Show in April.
The Dragon88 editions will only be available in the Chinese market this year.
