Van Gogh, Chocolate and Celebrities: Godiva’s Golden Globes After-Party

A significant characteristic to French Impressionism is the small brush strokes in the paintings that give it that drunken colorful blur.  Van Gogh was famous for his small brush strokes a perfect example of this is his painting “Starry Night.”

For those of you who are lactose intolerant beware.  In honor of Van Gogh’s style and works, Godiva recreated his painting, along with works by Matisse and Pollock, out of chocolate bars.  The artwork was featured at the sixth annual Godiva Lounge at the Golden Globes InStyle and Warner Brothers After-Party.

Designed by Larry Abel and Raymond McCallister of Abel McCallister Designs, the artwork was admired by celebrities including Leonardo Dicaprio, Orlando Bloom, Sofia Vergara, Lea Michelle, Mark Salling, Kate Walsh, Kelsey Grammer, Emma Stone, Jodi Foster, Jessica Alba, Heidi Klum and many more.

Each chocolate painting was unique in the creation process.  It took 3 days of spatters and drips of Godiva Dark, Milk and White chocolate to make the painting inspired by Pollock.  For Matisse’s painting, the chocolate company needed 50 yards of blue foil from Godiva Gems, along with over 100 French Vanilla Truffles.
