More than 400 people attended Komen for the Cure’s annual Perfect Pink party held at The Mar-a-Lago club Jan. 14. The party raised over $1 million.

As one can expect, the evening’s theme was the color of its namesake. The party was practically bathed in the rosey hue from pink ribbon flags lining the driveway to pink lights illuminating the pool, bridge and bathrooms. The Grand Ballrom was cocooned in pink fabric and soft pink lighting.

The live auction took place during the first dinner course(limp crabmeat timbale) and  included fabolous finds like four tickets to an upcoming Celine Dion concert at the same location and an autographed Tim Tebow helmet. The helmet went to Donald Trump, owner of The Mar-a-Lago club, at the precise moment when the Broncos were losing to the Patiots (ahem, Tom Brady) in the second week of the NFL playoffs.

The evening’s proceeds benefit the Komen Club’s efforts to end breast cancer. Komen and its 123 affiliates paid for 700,000 breast screenings for uninsured women in the U.S. and provided social and financial support to another 100,000 women and their families. Komen’s South Florida affiliate has provided more than $16 million to local breast cancer and women’s health programs.
