This week the annual Cavallino Classic Ferrari convention will be held at the luxurious Breakers hotel. To celebrate its 21st anniversary, there will be extra events through the weekend including a car show and races at the Palm Beach International Raceway.
Boca Raton-based Cavallino magazine publisher, John W. Barnes Jr., says, “We’re expanding our historic racing out at the track on Friday. We’ll have more vintage Maseratis and Ferraris. They were built between 1956 and 1980 and will be driven by their owners.”
On Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. there is a track meet at Palm Beach International Raceway (17041 Bee Line Highway) featuring facing events and a presentation of the Florida Trophy. Tickets to Friday’s Cavallino Classic Historic Competition are $30 and it takes place on Friday at 1 p.m. Here racers will reach a top speed of 130 mph with 12 cars per race. In total, approximately 100 Ferraris will be involved in the races.
Also on Friday, guests can enjoy a private Showboats Yacht Hop at the Rybovich Marina in West Palm Beach.
Saturday the Concorso d’Eleganza will be open to the public from 9 a.m. through 3:30 p.m. at The Breakers front lawn. Ferraris of all models and years will be displayed and class awards and major cups will be presented. Tickets can be purchased at the gate for $75.
To close off the weekend, a Classic Sports Sunday will take place at The Mar-a-Lago Club featuring an awards presentation, 120 vintage cars on display and a charity brunch. Tickets to this event cost $250 and are only available in advance at The Breakers’ Gold Room.
Cars at the event will have traveled from across the country for the nation’s largest event of its kind for Ferrari and Maserati owners. According to Barnes, around 70% of the 350 cars brought to Palm Beach are from out of state.
The event benefits the Children’s Wish Foundation, the Boys and Girls Club, Best Buddies, the American Council of the Blind Scholarship Fund and the Dreyfoos School of the Arts.
