Nominations for British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards Announced

This morning the British Academy of Film and Television Arts announced the nominations for this year’s awards.

Some of the most established award nominee’s include a few recent Golden Globe winners, including a Best Picture nomination for “The Artist”, “The Descendants”, “Drive”, “The Help” and “Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy”.

Outstanding British Film nominations go to “My Week With Marilyn”, “Senna”, “Shame”, “Tinker, Tailer, Soldier, Spy” and “We Need to Talk About Kevin”.

Nomination nods for Best Director went to “The Artist”, “Drive”, “Hugo”, “Tinker, Tailor, Solider, Spy” and “We Need to Talk About Kevin”.

The films nominated for Best Original Screenplay include, “The Artist”, “Bridesmaids”, “The Guard”, “The Iron Lady” and “Midnight in Paris.”

The Academy is made up of approximately 6,5000 industry experts across the UK and the US. Each year, they focus their attention on the highest achievements in film, television and games distributed in the UK in hopes of inspiring and motivating filmmakers.

In addition to the BAFTA Awards, the Academy is committed to sharing the craft of film, TV and games production and actually stages more than 200 public events per year.

The winners of the BAFTA Awards will be announced on February 12 at London’s Royal Opera House.
