McCarran Airport Sees Highest Travelers Traffic Since ‘08

Las Vegas’ McCarran International Airport saw the number of travelers since 2008.
It’s yet another sign of resurgence to the Vegas tourism industry. Officials reported Friday that the airport drew nearly 41.5 million passengers in 2011 which included a 3.9 percentboost in traffic during December 2011 compared to December 2010.
Among the five largest domestic airlines, Delta decreased in traffic by 1.8 percent in 2011, Southwest increased 1.5 percent, American increaed 7.1 percent, Allegiant increased 6.4 percent and Continental increased by 6.9 percent.
McCarran is the United State’s eight-busiest airport, and it peaked at 47.7 million passengers in 2007. The numbers fell by 3.7 million in 2008 and continued to fall in 2009 and 2010.
The report of McCarran’s passenger counts came in light of reports showing improvement in other tourism industries. Indicators included gaming revenue, gaming wins and visitor volume in Sin City.
