The Chinese New Year is right around the corner (Jan. 23), and with that in mind, the Hurun Research Institute released its list for the “Top Ten Gifts for the Chinese Luxury Consumer 2012″, a survey that sought the opinions of 503 Chinese millionaires. The list was published in the Hurun Report, a monthly magazine best known for its annual “China Rich List.”

Louis Vuitton topped the list with 14.9 percent of the vote. Following the French brand is Cartier, Hermes, Chanel, Moutai, Apple, Dior, Prada, Rolex and Armani, respectively.

Moutai and Apple are the sole Chinese and American brands on the list. The other eight listed are European. The 503 participants are all residents of the Chinese mainland.
