Haute Partners :: Cuervo Y Sobrinos
by Alexandra Delgado
Fueled by a desire to stand apart from all other luxury watch brands and inspired by the elegant, sophisticated way of life of its wearers, Cuervo y Sobrinos joins two unique elements that, when combined, bring a distinctive meaning to innovation in the watch industry. The legendary brand of Swissmade timepieces incorporates all the technological advances of the watch world with unmistakable Latin flair.

The brand was born in 1882 in Havana, Cuba, and from day one, Cuervo watches have been crafted in Switzerland. Unique in its Latin foundation and Swiss manufacturing, the brand has garnered a permanent place on the wrists and in the minds of the watch-savvy. Even as trends evolve, Cuervo pieces exude modernity while maintaining a dedication to the native aesthetic of the brand. Each piece, whether it reflects the casual chic of a sports watch or the high-profile grandeur of an elegant timepiece, echoes the brand’s foundation of Latin soul and Swiss technique.

At an event this past October at the acclaimed David Orgell Jewelers, Cuervo y Sobrinos brought Havana to Beverly Hills for an exciting fiesta. A block party ensued, with guests enjoying gourmet tapas and fresh mojitos, with live Cuban music providing the soundtrack to the hip-shaking event.

Cuervo y Sobrinos President Marzio Villa joined the excited guests, flying in from Switzerland to introduce them to the newest pieces released at Baselworld 2011. He also gave them an intimate and passionate account of the art of combining vintage with technology.

The spirit behind Villa’s thoughtful discourse is the same fervor that has inspired each Cuervo y Sobrinos timepiece for the past 130 years; the same essence that will only cultivate the brand’s success.
