Evan Kleiman’s Angeli Caffe Set to Close on Jan.8

After 27 years of serving many guests decadent selections of foods such as the restaurant’s signature gnocchi dish, the owner and host of KCRW “Good Food” Evan Kleiman sadly announced that the restaurant will be closing its doors on January 8.

The Melrose Avenue restaurant has had its share of failures, which led to Kleiman’s decision to close.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Kleiman stated “I was open for years when I probably should have closed. It was my personal mission to get my employees past the worst of the recession, and I absorbed a lot of losses personally in order to do that and just can’t do it anymore.”

On December 28th, 2011, Kleiman took to twitter about the closing of the Angeli Caffe. “I’m closing Angeli. I’m bereft and verklempt sharing this news. January 8th is our last night. Please come say bye and share a couple…”

If you are interested in saying farewell to Angeli for the very last time, the restaurant will be open from now until the 8th.
