From January 28 through March 3 the Hong Kong Arts Festival will be staging in 17 venues and feature 166 performances.
For 45 fun-filled days, the 2012 Hong Kong Arts Festival will present166 performances from 38 ensembles and solo artists in the event’s international debut. Brimming with art, couture, theater, dance and music, the Festival includes performances by the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, Asia Pacific Dance Platform, Hong Kong Jockey Club Contemporary Dance Series (pictured), New Stage Series: June Lovers, The Hamburg Ballet, World of Wearable Art and many more.
In addition, the Festival will provide master classes and workshops by The Sixteen, Dominante and Karita Mattila. At the Hong Kong Theater Connection there will also be play readings and rehearsals, About Dance will introduce you to John Neumeir, Yorgos Loukos and provide a chance to go behind the scenes of A Streetcar Names Desire and Le Songe. At Artist Encounters, visitors will get the chance to meet many international and local artists who will be performing at this year’s Hong Kong Arts Festival as well.
The Hong Kong Arts Festival is an international arts festival in which the best of Asian and local talents are showcased alongside international artists. The Festival receives grants from the Leisure and Cultural Services Department and the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust. Additional financing comes from companies, institutions and individuals while ticket sales also create a significant source of income for the Festival.
