Eleven stories will be added to the Yongsan Landmark Tower in Korea, the world’s most expensive building. Initial plans intended the building to stand 100 stories with an estimated $1.4 trillion in construction costs. The developer’s changes push the building 120 meters up, making the building eligible to be crowned the tallest building in Korea and the second tallest building in the world.

The changes have also triggered a change in the building’s name. True to the number of floors (111), the megastructure will now be known as Triple One instead of the Landmark Tower. Think that 11 floors is a hefty addition? In 2007, the building was conceptualized to rise to 150 floors, but the 2008 economic downturn robbed the building of 50 stories. The new addition is evidence of brighter economic conditions and adds not only height to the skyscraper, but honor as well.
