Stars Come out for ‘New Years Eve’ NYC Screening

Several of the stars of the upcoming film New Year’s Eve braved the New York City downpour for an advanced screening of the movie to benefit the Tribeca Film Institute in midtown last night. The event was hosted by Tribeca Film Institute founders Robert De Niro and Jane Rosenthal and producer Toby Emmerich. De Niro, who also stars in the film, was joined by cast-mates including Sarah Jessica Parker, Matthew Broderick, Zac Efron, Jessica Biel, Seth Meyers, Jon Bon Jovi, and Abigail Breslin. Hollywood icon and the director of the film was in attendance and gave a lively speech to the delighted audience before the screening.
After the film screened, the audience moved (well, ran in the rain) across the street to the Hilton New York for a dinner party to celebrate the film with several of its stars and to further benefit the Tribeca Film Institute. The party, ever-appropriately, echoed a New Years Eve party— complete with 2012 party sunglasses, horns, and tinsel on the tables. The institute, along with the Tribeca Film Festival, was founded in the wake of September 11. The non-profit organization benefits filmmakers through grants and professional development. It focuses on empowering individual artists and fosters creativity amongst New York City students by giving them industry support, educational programming, and media tools to be productive and creative individuals in the 21st century.
