A luxury condominium in San Francisco, Calif. has sold for $28 million. When it was put on the market for $70 million in 2008, it had no buyers, and the price was reduced several times over. The two-story, 20,000 square foot penthouse sits atop the St. Regis hotel was created with three apartment units, and more than twice the final selling price was spent just for the renovations.
The resident is blessed with a panoramic view of the San Francisco skyline and part of the bay area. The apartment boasts 22-foot high ceilings, a two-story waterfall mechanism in the foyer (making the space appear bigger), almost 3,000 square feet of balconies and floor-to-ceiling glass walls. The master suite totals whopping 2,500 square feet in itself and includes a gym, sauna and steam room. The decor is contemporary with four fireplaces and features a minimalistic approach with neutral colors like white, gray and brown.
The main accommodation comprises of six bedrooms, 12 bathrooms, living room, library, patio and foyer areas and movie theater. Real estate experts said that finding such a home in San Francisco is next to impossible, hence the premium price tag.
