Las Vegas has one of the biggest New Year’s Eve celebrations in the world. With fireworks blossoming from atop casinos, the Strip closed to traffic, celebrities such as Kim Kardashian and Mary J Blige performing at clubs and three new hot spots opening (Hyde Lounge, RPM and 1OAK), we anticipate you’ll have a hangover come Jan. 1.
We have your fix. Head over to Andre’s at the Monte Carlo for Chef André Rochat’s two personal favorite dishes, each priced at $20.12 and both perfect for the day after.
First up, the cassoulet with duck confit, pork sausage, pork belly and Great Northern beans and the French onion soup Lyonnaise, which is traditional French onion soup enriched with a coddled egg. Both are personal favorite dishes of Rochat for the rich flavors and textures are ideal for curing any day-after effects from New Year’s Eve.
We do recommend reservations though.
Andre’s is located at the Monte Carlo, 3770 Las Vegas Blvd. S. For reservations, call 702-798-7151 or go to www.andrelv.com for more information.

Osamu Koyama, the designer for jewelry label Complete Technique, has unveiled the new ZF-1 snowboard boots from Nike Snowboarding.
Called “American Eagle,” the gold boots were inspired by Koyama’s fond memories of Japanese anime “Saint Selva” and manga “Berserk”. He molded and shaped each golden plate into forms with Zoom Force 1 white shoes in the middle. Extensive amounts of yellow gold were used to form the structures.
Koyama also added an opulent opal pendant on the front of the boot for a final haute touch. From the front, the Zoom Force 1 boot is hidden, but can be seen when looked at from behind.
So far it is unclear who has purchased these one of a kind boots, but it’s likely to be someone looking for a special collectors item rather than a functional pair of shoes.

Superstar pop icon Lady Gaga has been selected by Mayor Bloomberg to have the honor of dropping the ball in Times Square this New Year’s Eve.
At 11:59 p.m. Gaga will push the Waterford Crystal button that begins the giant New Year’s Eve ball. Thousands of people will gather in one of the world’s most famous spots to ring in the new year with the music icon. In the past, Bloomberg has selected people like Bill and Hillary Clinton, Colin Powell, Muhammad Ali and Rudy Giuliani to drop the LED-lit ball, which weighs exactly 11,875 pounds.
Because of the relatively mild winter temperatures, Bloomberg is anticipating record crowds at the annual party. At it’s peak, between 750,000 to 1 million people can be squeezed in between the 17 blocks that go from Central Park South to Times Square.
Tim Tompkins, who heads the Times Square Alliance, said even in recent years the crowds have gotten so large that they actually spill into Central Park. “That’s when we know we’ve got a full house,” he said.
In addition to her ball-dropping duties, Lady Gaga will also perform on ABC’s “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2012”.

In preparation for the new year and the debut of their new Model S, electric car maker Tesla is selling just 15 of the Final Edition Roadster models.
The special edition of the Roadster sports car, which cost around $109,000, is no different in terms of specifications, however, if you’re hoping your Final Edition model is able to stand out from the crowd, Tesla has you covered. The 15 Final Edition models are all painted in Atomic Red paint with dark stripes and anthracite aluminum wheels.
According to reports, each of Tesla’s major sales regions (Unites States, Europe, Asia, etc.) will each receive five of the Final Edition models. As is typically seen with limited edition products, each car will be uniquely numbered and badged inside.
Once Tesla rolls out the new Model S, which is priced from $49,900, buyers will get an eco-friendly vehicle that goes from 0-60mph faster than a Poesche 911 Carrera. A special edition performance package for the Model S will be available for around $79,900 as well.
