N.J. Nets Billionaire Owner Mikhail Prokhorov to Run for President

Mikhail Prokhorov is the billionaire owner of the N.J. Nets basketball team and he has just announced his intentions to run against Vladimir Putin in the upcoming presidential election.
Prokhorov made the announcement at a press conference on Monday saying, “I have made the most serious decision of my life. I am running for president.”
The Russian tycoon is one of Russia’s richest men. He promised his upcoming campaign wouldn’t be focused on negative attacks on Putin. “Criticism must make up no more than 10 percent. I would like to focus on the things I would do,” he said.
Born in Moscow in 1965, Prokhorov graduated from Moscow State Financial Institute in 1989. He is the principal owner of the N.J. Nets and the NBA team website says, “Mikhail is passionate and, in addition to basketball, enjoys windsurfing, jet skiing, heli-skiing and kickboxing. He also serves as the President of the Russian Biathlon Union.”
