At a public auction, the Birkin bag has set a new world record for being the most expensive handbag ever sold at an auction.
At Design District Annex, located at 1518 Slocum Street in Dallas, the Birkin bag was put up for auction as a part of an important Heritage Auction, Handbags & Luxury Accessories Signature auction.
The Director of Luxury Accessories at Heritage Auctions, Matt Rubinger states:
“This is an extraordinary example of one of the world’s most exceptional handbags, and this was certainly an exceptional price, exceeding our highest expectations at every corner. This crocodile handbag, was one of the four Hermes handbags that broke the existing record price.”

-Hermes 35cm Matte Brighton Blue Porosus Crocodile Birkin Bag with Palladium Hardware, sold for $113,525
-Hermes 35cm Shiny Braise Red Porosus Crocodile Birkin Bag with Palladium Hardware, sold for $95,600
-Hermes Ultra Rare 30cm Himalayan Crocodile Birkin Bag with Palladium Hardware, sold for $80,663
Also, at Doyle New York, other Hermes bags were auctioned off at high prices including Hermes matte crocodile birkin bag. A bag that is exclusively made of dazzling diamonds and crocodile skin that sold for a whopping $120,000.
