Italian fashion label Dsquared² made a big splash at this year’s Art Basel Miami Beach, when design-heads, Dean and Dan Caten, hosted an intimate, Friday night cocktail and dinner at über-chic boutique, The Webster Miami, in the heart of South Beach. The glittery engagement was Dsquared²’s inaugural Art Basel Miami foray and commemorated the label’s partnership with fashion bible VMAN Magazine for the Winter 2011 issue.

“It’s young, it’s fresh, it’s modern! Its masculine…It’s fabulous,” buzzed the twosome, with hilarious enthusiasm, of the glossy. Of course they had even more to say about Dsquared² –clad cover boy, actor James Franco—but we’ll leave that to your imagination…

The twin brothers did confess that they have attended Art Basel Miami previously, however 2011 denotes their first year in town representing the brand. “We like art!” chimed one… “We like it if we like it,” corrected the other, “it has to fit in!”

But the night of 2 December was all about style, as nearly 80 art, fashion, media and design VIPs, festooned in their most fabulous couture, showed their support for the ebullient identical twins.

Joining the merriment for rooftop cocktails and a lavish dinner spread were: supermodel Naomi Campbell, Nicky Hilton, model Lily Donaldson, basketball star Dwyne Wade, VMAN editor Stephen Gan, actress Gina Gershon, fashion executive/backer Renzo Rosso, photographer Bruce Weber, Stella Schnabel, VISIONAIRE’s Cecilia Dean, and nightlife queen Ladyfag.

With their first successful Basel-Miami bash under their belts, it appears that the city is growing on the Catens: “This whole week is full of interesting people… it’s the people this week that make Miami… It’s getting cooler!” they exclaimed.

Dsquared² has garnered an impressive reputation for throwing quite a splendid party: This past October, Dsquared² opened a magnificent new Paris boutique on Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré. The night kicked-off at the boutique and ended with a raucous after-party at famed Ritz Paris in Place Vendôme. A top-notch guest list included: Carine Roitfeld, Anna Dello Russo, chanteuse Ciara, Julia Restoin-Roitfeld, Poppy Delevigne, and models Constance Jablonski and Natasha Poly.

If you’re lucky enough, you’ll catch these indistinguishable jet-setters during their ensuing holiday festivities; the Caten twins stated they will ring in the New Year in Puerto Vallarta!
