Haute Event: MusicianCorps “Friend Raiser”

A San Francisco house party generated $30,000 for the Center for Music National Service (MNS), a national nonprofit organization based in San Francisco. The organizationʼs flagship program, MusicianCorps, trains and places musicians to serve full-time as teachers, mentors and therapists in lowperforming public schools, hospitals and other high-need community settings throughout the Bay Area.
Hosted at the home of Alexandra and Spencer Wells, the December 8 “Friend Raiser” brought together 150 Bay Area supporters from the local business and charitable community. Through their charitable foundation, the Wells family has made a sustaining commitment to MNS as part of its Founderʼs Circle. Mr. Wells also serves on the organizationʼs Board of Directors.
The event featured testimonials from current MusicianCorps Fellows Meagan Hughes and Hernando Buitrago, who shared stories about the children and patients they serve in San Francisco and Oakland. Live music was provided by MusicianCorps Alum Alex Pinto, a local recording artist and educator. Local businesses including Bi-Rite Catering, Town Hall Restaurant, and Ferry Plaza
Wine Merchant donated food and wine for the evening.
The Center for Music National (MNS) is a nonprofit organization that supports music as a social impact strategy through direct programs and advocacy. MNS has received numerous awards and recognition, including being named “1 of 10 nonprofit innovations that will strengthen U.S. Communities” by the Aspen Institute. The organization has been featured on NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams, NPRʼs All Things Considered, U.S. News and World Report, as well as other local and national news outlets.
