Dolphins offer a backdrop for yoga classes at the Mirage.

Get your workout started on the right foot for 2012 by doing downward dolphins with the creatures at the Mirage. Now you can take Yoga Among the Dolphins at the Spa at the Mirage in the underwater viewing area at Siegfried & Roy’s Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat.

“Guests from all over the world cherish the dolphins at the Mirage,” said the Mirage spa director Stephanie Doud. “When I looked at adding yoga to our spa menu, it only made sense to take advantage of the property’s exotic, wondrous dolphin world and the atmosphere of relaxation provided by the animals.”

The space gives you a completely different level of serenity while doing yoga. You’re guaranteed to see dolphins galore, including the two new male calves born this summer.

The class takes place in a quiet and private room within the Dolphin Habitat that contains a number of windows for viewing the resort’s family of bottlenose dolphins while you glide from pose to pose. You may even get so caught up in the dance of the dolphins that you forget to concentrate on the class. Afterward, sip on a smoothy while you walk back to the spa through the dolphin pools.

You can take the class Friday through Sunday at 8:30 a.m. The 60-minute classes are open to the public and can be customized to accommodate all skill levels. The cost is $50 per person and includes use of a yoga mat, post-class smoothie and day pass for the fitness center, spa vanity, wet areas and lockers.

If doing poses in front of the dolphin Friday through Sunday at 7 a.m.
