Fuku Burger: Vegas Truck Brings Japanese Inspired Burgers to Hollywood

As we all know, Hollywood is a very burger-centric area, with a smorgasbord of burger options like, Umami, Stout, 25 Degrees, Lucky Devils, Juicy Burger and Go! Burger, all around Cahuenga, so one would ask: Why would Hollywood need another burger joint? Well, Fuku Burger is very different from your usually meat and bun concoctions. For starters, it’s a Vegas food truck, not to mention Japanese inspired.

The establishment is backed by Harry Morton, a local business, along with Fuku’s co-owners Robert Mags Magsalin and Colin Fukunaga who took over a vacated spot in Cahuenga. They redid the interior with a more vibrant theme that includes, red lights, screen displays showing Tweets about the restaurant, a custom made mural by a local tattoo artist and an open front facing the street.

The Japanese inspired menu includes specialty burgers, the Kinoki, a Fuku patty grilled with shitake mushrooms, wasabi mayo, teriyaki, and red ginger, the Tamago, a Fuku patty with teriyaki, fried eggs, wasabi mayo, furikake and onion straws. Also, house-made veggie burgers, chicken katsu, a panko-crusted fried burger, and last but not least, Jazz Fries (smothered in “crack” sauce and gravy). What more can a customer ask for? With a delicious array of food selections, along with drinks that include a Root Beer Float made with sake and soju, adult milkshakes and an adequate beer list, not to mention the price is right, ranging in about $7 a burger, business can get a little crazy at Fuku. Even though, Cahuenga is overcrowded with burger restaurants, Fuku has no problem with standing out. Ironically, the term “fuku” in Japanese means luck.

Fuku is so delicious one Yelper was inspired to write a song. How fun is that? In the meantime try a Fuku bomb as Chef Mags shows Caroline on Crack how it’s done.
