Sunset Boulevard’s Hamburger Hamlet to Reopen as Chinese Restaurant

Hamburger Hamlet on Sunset Boulevard will close on December 19 and a new high-end fine dining Chinese restaurant will be moving in its place.
Real estate group the Mani Brothers (who have owned 9201 W. Sunset for several decades) decided not to renew the Hamlet’s 20-year lease in favor of raising rent to attract a new breed of restaurant. Hamburger Hamlet had been in operation since 1950 and has since collected a loyal following from the likes of Elton John, Betty White and Nancy Sinatra. The restaurant will close its doors on December 19.
Hospitality firm Innovative Dining Group (who run BOA, Delphine, Sushi Roku, among other scene-y spaces, has purchased the Hamburger Hamlet space and plans to open a high-end fine dining Chinese restaurant in its place. The new restaurant is scheduled to debut next summer, though no other details are available at this time.
