Stylist Jay Manuel Shares His Fall Fashion Trends With Haute Living: All About The Half-Tuck & 70s Luxury

Celebrity stylist and star of America’s Next Top model Jay Manuel  recently spoke to Haute Living about this fall’s most fabulous fashions trends and lucky for the Haute Couture fans, it’s all about luxury!

“It’s all about being luxurious this fall, from the fabrics, to the silhouettes, to the colors, to the styling,” says Manuel. “It’s an interesting place to be especially coming out a recession but the consumer really demanded that fashion go this way. Everything has come back with luxe feel. Fashion truly is entertainment. It’s not about need, it’s about want and living a fantasy.”

Layering is one of the biggest luxury trends this season for men, particularly, the  ”half-tuck,” aka, leaving one side of the shirttails or sweater untucked. The look is inspired by the character Nathan Drake who rocks the half-tuck look on the PlayStation video game Uncharted 3 and has been seen all over runways from high-end designers such as Louis Vuitton and Polo Ralph Lauren.

‘When you are layering and really playing with luxury, you want to make sure you can see all your elements; maybe a great belt buckle, cashmere sweater, piping- you want to see all the details,” says Manuel. “The half-tuck is very upscale  because you get to see all the luxury.”

Celebs like David Beckham and Kanye West have both been seen rocking this sophisticated style, also dubbed  the “front tuck” in the September issue of Details.

And for the ladies, it’s all about 1970s style glamour. No more sloppy sweaters, not more boho sheets. The look  is tailored, high end and polished with pops of bright colors.

“This fall is a nod back to the luxurious 70s. Luxe fabrics, draping, printed silks with bright colors,” he says. “Every designer is showing a wider leg trouser, which is universally more flattering than the skinny. And the color block trend is exciting and beautiful.”
