Shoe Queen Steps Down

Tamara Mellon, co-founder of Jimmy Choo, announced that she intends to step down from her position within the company.  The other co-founder and brand’s namesake, Jimmy Choo has long since moved on from the shoe empire—leaving his post in 2001.

Five months back the label was sold to Labelux; a luxury firm and Tamara Mellon agreed to stay on as a creative consultant at the time of sale.  Labelux claims that the separation is amicable and Mellon would just like to explore new entrepreneurial ventures.  Industry speculation is abuzz with the idea that the arrangement was always temporary; Mellon only ever intended to stay as long as it took for Jimmy Choo to integrate into the new company.
