Italian shoemaker Valentino has a new shoe collection that is experimental and avant-garde in approach but demure and edgy in style. Haute Living takes a look at the collection for women that is comprised of just ten designs.
Valentino’s latest shoe project is the Timestrings line of artisanal footwear for women. The name of the collection reportedly references the time and savoir-faire taken to make a Valentino object and numerology is the predominant theme. Each shoe is identified by a string of handwritten numbers inside the sole that replaces the name and describes the overall production time.
The collection also references iconic Valentino motifs such as flowers, lace and the color red, rearranged in ingenious ways. For example, a Plexiglas wedge heel is matched with velvets, symbolizing the clarity of day and the dark of night. On another pair, small bows decorate grid-like booties, a mix of naught and nice.
The Valentino Timestrings collection will be available in limited quantities.
