Miami & the Beaches Environmental Film Festival Debuts Jean-Michel Cousteau’s Film and Initiative
October 23rd-25th marked the first annual Miami & the Beaches Environmental Film Festival at New World Center. The green film festival featured the world premiere of Jean-Michel Cousteau’s film, sponsored by The Ritz-Carlton Residences Singer Island in Palm Beach.
The festical also marked the official announcement of the partnership between Cousteau’s Ocean Futures Society and The Ritz-Carlton Singer Island for the most comprehensive and proactive sea turtle awareness and protection campaign from here in South Florida.
With news of Palm Beach County possessing one of the densest concentrations of turtle nests on the east coast, this initiative came at the height of nesting season just in time for awareness of next season. Leading an aggressive educational platform where Ritz-Carlton Residences will communicate as a call-to-action not only to building management, but more importantly, to condo residents in coastal high-rises across the east coast through a communications campaign.
A Cousteau blog on the The Ritz-Carlton Residences Singer Island website will begin in 2012 during turtle season. Singer Island—identified as an area of high mortality rates—is the starting point for a national model and strategy for coastal developments across the U.S. And The Ritz-Carlton Residences began the initiative. Lionheart Capital, owner of The Ritz-Carlton Residences Singer Island, reached out to Cousteau’s internationally renowned Ocean Futures Society to lead the campaign. Teaming up with Sea Turtle Conservancy, they outlined the most comprehensive and aggressive educational platform.
