Live Bay Scallops Available at Eataly and Minetta Tavern

Live bay scallops are a rare treat since the mollusks only live for about six hours in refrigeration. However, Widow’s Hole Oyster Company is bringing a batch into New York city today, where they will be served at Eataly and Minetta Tavern.
Widow’s Hole Oyster Company is bringing a batch of still-breathing scallops into the city today for customers to enjoy at two different restaurants.
At Eataly reps are saying that the live scallops will be available at the seafood retail counter for $17.80 a pound and also at Il Pesce served on the half-shell with blood orange ($20 for five).
Over at Minetta Tavern, you can enjoy the morsels on the half-shell as well, with uni and some kind of citrus as part of a holiday sampler.
Quantities at both places are limited, so it’s recommended to head over early.
