HAUTE AUTO: Jaguar C-X75 A Winning Concept

The C-X75 is also able to reach a 205 mph top speed, travel 560 miles and produce 778 horsepower with 1180 pound-feet of torque churning through a torque-vectored all-wheel drive system.

Jaguar lead a preemptive strike during this year’s Paris Motor Show with the unveiling of their electric concept car. Forget the mandatory celebratory mandates set forth for the British automaker’s 75th anniversary. The reflective moment at hand is the fact that the C-X75 is the most ostentatious vehicle ever theorized and manifested by Jaguar since the XJ13.

“Performance through innovation has always been a Jaguar hallmark,” said Dr Ralf Speth, Chief Executive Officer, Jaguar Land Rover. “From the beginning, cars such as the C-Type and D-Type pioneered aluminium construction, aerodynamic design, racing monocoques and disc brakes. The C-X75 demonstrates that the company is still leading the field in automotive design and technology.”

Good point, but the public wants to know if Jaguar can put a stylish quality performance vehicle into production. Audi did it with the R8; Lexus did it with the L-FA, and Fisker has done it with the Karma. No longer can Jaguar play on the seesaw by itself. The luxury brand has to strike back with forceful ambition and produce these momentary concepts they continue to conjure up. Design is not a problem, evident from the fresh and invigorating XJ. Performance is neither an issue as witnessed from “R” model vehicles with potent, supercharged engines. Add a 580kW propulsion system which utilizes an electric motor at each wheel (4 total) with mini gas-turbines which sit amidship, and you have an autoganic work of art. The C-X75 is also able to reach a 205 mph top speed, travel 560 miles and produce 778 horsepower with 1180 pound-feet of torque churning through a torque-vectored all-wheel drive system. An aerodynamic aluminium frame and staggered 21” front/22” rear tires encasing aluminium rims with a “fan bladed” theme allows the C-X75 to skate 0 to 62 in a sudden 3.4 seconds.
