Haute 100 Update: Jay-Z Honored as 2011 Man of the Year

Rapper, mogul, icon, and soon-to-be father Jay-Z has been named by GQ magazine as one of their 2011 Men of the Year. Between his high-profile collaboration with Kanye West and his loving marriage with fellow music superstar Beyonce, Jay-Z is at the forefront of the music industry.

Jay-Z is joined by three other people on the magazine’s list of Men of the Year – one of which is not even a man. Actress Mila Kunis, singer/actor Justin Timberlake, and actor Michael Fassbender join the hip hop star on this year’s list to receive the illustrious title.

The foursome will be honored in the Decemeber issue of the men’s magazine, which will release on Nov. 22 with four different covers, each bearing the photo of one of the honorees.

Besides his numerous other achievements this year, Jay-Z is also expecting his first child with singer Beyonce – and he is fully prepared for the job. Having had his own father leave when he was young, the rap star vows to be the best father he can be for his own child.

“If your dad died before you were born, yeah, it hurts—but it’s not like you had a connection with something that was real,” he revealed. “Not to say it’s any better—but to have that connection and then have it ripped away was, like, the worst. My dad was such a good dad that when he left, he left a huge scar. He was my superhero.”

Congratulations, Jay-Z – on all your achievements this year!
