Charlie Palmer to Open San Francisco Hotel and Restaurant

The rumors were confirmed on Monday: Charlie Palmer will be opening a hotel and restaurant in San Francisco.

The rumors began with reports that Charlie Palmer is working on a project in San Francisco’s Crescent Hotel, located on Stockton Street and home of the Burritt Room. That rumor began when a liquor license application notice was spotted at the hotel. The licensee applying for the transfer was City Core, a local developer who partners with Palmer on hotels, according to their website.

But as time went on, Palmer seemed to want to keep things quiet. When asked about the rumors, Palmer simply said, “It’s just a rumor, so far. There’s nothing to comment on right now.” He then added, “I do love San Francisco.” Representatives at City Core were unable to comment.

However, just a few days later, an announcement was made saying that yes, City Core and Palmer are taking over the Crescent Hotel after all, and will turn it into a “chef-driven boutique hotel.” According to the most recent reports, included in the package deal will be a new Charlie Palmer restaurant that will be different from any of Palmer’s other concepts around the country. The name has not been released yet.

As for the Burritt Room at the hotel, Richard Kaufman – president of City-Core – said it will not be closing. “We plan to retain the historic nature of the Burritt Room,” he says, adding that they will be keeping the name and everything

Palmer’s only Bay Area restaurant is Healdsburg’s upscale Dry Creek Kitchen. His flagship restaurant is Aureole in New York City.

During the changes at the Crescent Hotel, it will not be closed. Renovations are schedule to begin next year.

Regardless of how much debt people are in or how much money they need to save, they somehow still make room in their wallets for cosmetic procedures. So it’s no wonder that worldwide spending on cosmetic surgery is between a stifling $30 billion and $40 billion a year.
