Caprice Holdings opens 34
Caprice Holdings, the owner of iconic restaurants Le Caprice and The Ivy, has opened a new steak restaurant off Grosvenor Square, in the heart of Mayfair.

The menu – created by head chef Paul Brown (previously at Le Caprice, Mark’s Club and The Walnut Tree near Abergavenny) and Caprice Holdings’ chef director Tim Hughes – focuses on carefully sourced meat and seasonal game, as well as lighter dishes such as shellfish and fish, cooked on the custom-made parrilla (grill) grill, imported all the way from Argentina.

Close to its sister restaurant, Scott’s, 34 shares the same designer, Martin Brudnizki, whose previous work includes The Club at The Ivy, Wentworth Grill and Le Caprice New York. The dining room takes inspiration from Edwardian and Art Deco styles, creating a “luxurious yet informal” atmosphere.

Will 34 do well given its proximity to Gordon Ramsay’s award winning Maze? It remains to be seen but Richard Caring – the perma tanned restaurant tycoon behind the venture – is confident: “I regularly travel to the United States on business and New York is always a highlight as I know I can always find a fantastic steak. The opening of 34 is the culmination of many years of planning and personal research, and I’m happy to say that I will no longer need to get on a plane to enjoy what I hope will be the best steak in the world!”
