“Modernism Through the Ages”: A Successful Double-Weekend Soiree for Junior League of San Francisco, Dwell Media, and Bay Area Designers

The Junior League of San Francisco (JLSF) held their 17th Annual Home Tour “Modernism Through the Ages” featuring the Dwell Design Lab during the weekends of October 22-23 and October 28-30.  The double weekend affair showcased San Francisco’s sophisticated range of architecture and design.

On Saturday, October 22, the festivities kicked off with a Preview Gala at a private residence in San Francisco’s stunning Sea Cliff neighborhood.  Guests had the opportunity to view San Francisco’s most elite homes, and to experience how these historical homes have been modernized through the ages.  Hundreds of guests enjoyed the soiree, which included cocktails and bites by Pisco Porton, La Crema wines, Beach Chalet Brewery & Restaurant, Global Gourmet Catering, and SusieCakes.  Guests were then transported in luxury cars provided by Mercedes-Benz SF to view each home.

The Junior League of San Francisco teamed up with Dwell Media the following weekend, October 28-30, for the second segment of the double weekend event.  The first ever Dwell Design Lab at the Millennium Tower featured twenty Bay Area designers and design manufacturers who transformed the unfinished penthouse into an exhibition wonderland.

The 17th Annual Modernism For the Ages raised thousands of dollars for the JLSF while supporting bay area design.  Proceeds from Home Tour supported the JLSF’s community programs by funding community grants and services.  The JLSF provides financial, advocacy, and volunteer support in key areas such as tutoring and mentoring, educational workshops, and cultural enrichment programs to Bay Area families in need.
