Most Expensive Home In The UK Sold

Updown Court in Surrey — once Britian’s most expensive home has reportedly been sold to an Indian businessman for €40 million.

The property, which is bigger than Buckingham Palace, features 103 rooms, bowling alley, cinema, squash court and five swimming pools costs €50,000 a week to run and was originally the most expensive country house ever put on the UK market. The property was originally put on the market for €80 million, but had been reduced on several occasions in order to attract interest.

The NAMA agency has now reportedly taken a profit on the house after discounting the original loan purchased from Irish Nationwide, which was a major backer of the property.

The Indian businessman who bought the property is not believed to be active in UK industry.
